General Entry Requirements:

Applicant must:


  1. satisfy the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic entry requirements for each relevant National Diploma Programme;

  2. pass at not below Lower Credit in the relevant National Diploma Programmes from accredited programmes/Institutions;


  1. have completed one year post National Diploma relevant work experience (evidence of industrial work experience is required). Candidate with a pass at ND level would require 2 years post-qualification industrial experience;


  1. request his/her former Institution to send transcripts of his academic record to the Registrar, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta;


  1. Applicants who obtained their National Diploma (ND) from other Polytechnics with Pre-ND as their entry qualification shall not be admitted. Post-qualification School Certificate ordinary level results are not admissible.

Note: Please note the following: Literature in English or Oral English are not acceptable as a substitute for English Language for all programmes. So also, Further Mathematics or Statistics are not acceptable as a substitute for Mathematics for all programmes

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES

1. Accountancy

a) Credit passes in five (5) subjects obtained at not more than 2 sittings in SSCE/NECO/WASC/GCE “O” level and NABTEB including English Language and Mathematics.

b) In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily have a credit pass in one of Economics/Commerce/Principles of Accounts.

c) Two other credits in any of Economics, Commerce, Principle of Accounts, Statistics, Government, Geography, History, Business Methods, Literature in English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Language (Yoruba/Hausa/Igbo/ French), Religious Studies (CRK/IRK) are required.

2. Business

Administration

a) Credit passes in five (5) subjects obtained at not more than 2 sittings in SSCE/NECO/WASC/GCE “O” level and NABTEB including English Language and Mathematics.

b) In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily have a credit pass in one of Economics/Commerce.

c) Two other credits in any of Economics, Commerce, Principle of Accounts, Statistics, Government, Geography, History, Business Methods, Literature in English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Language (Yoruba/Hausa/Igbo/ French), Religious Studies (CRK/IRK) are required.

3. Marketing

a) Credit passes in five (5) subjects obtained at not more than 2 sittings in SSCE/NECO/WASC/GCE “O” level and NABTEB including English Language and Mathematics.

b) In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily have a credit pass in one of Economics/Commerce.

c) Two other credits in any of Economics, Commerce, Principle of Accounts, Statistics, Government, Geography, History, Business Methods, Literature in English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Language (Yoruba/Hausa/Igbo/ French), Religious Studies (CRK/IRK) are required

SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

1. Mass

Communication

a) Credit passes in five (5) obtained at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE/NECO/WASC/GCE “O” level and NABTEB subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

b) In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily posses three (3) credits in any of the following: Literature in English, History Economics, Fine Art, Government, Commerce, Geography Physics, Chemistry, Biology Electronics/ Basic Electricity, Language (Yoruba/Hausa/Igbo/ French), Religious Studies (CRK/IRK).

b) Four (4) or three (3) other credits at two (1) sittings and one (1) sitting respectively from Typewriting, Shorthand, Office Practice, Commerce, Economics, Principles of Accounts, Business Methods, Mathematics, History, Government, Commerce, Geography, Biology/Agric. Science, Physics, Chemistry, Language (Yoruba/Hausa/ Igbo/French), Religious Studies (CRK/IRK) are required

SCHOOL OF SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY

  1. Science Laboratory

Technology

    1. Credit passes in five (5) subjects at two sittings or four (4) subjects at one sitting in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics with at least a pass in English Language.

    2. In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily possess credits in two of the core science subjects and at least a pass in the third science course namely; Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agric. Science.

    3. Two (2) or one (1) other credit(s) at two (2) sittings or at one (1) sitting respectively from Economics Geography, Commerce, Technical Drawing, Basic Electricity/Electronics, Further Mathematics, Statistics, Language (Yoruba/Igbo/Hausa/French) are required.

  1. Food Technology

    1. Credit passes in five (5) subjects obtained at two (2) sittings or Four (4) at one (1) sitting in SSCE, NECO, GCE “O” Level, WASC and NABTEB including Mathematics with at least a pass in English Language.

    2. In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily possess credits in two of the core Science subjects namely Chemistry and Biology/Agric Science and a pass in the third subject Physics.

    3. Two (2) or one (1) other credit at two (2) sittings or one (1) sitting respectively from Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics and Food and Nutrition are required.

  1. Hospitality Management

    1. Credit passes in four (4) subjects obtained at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including English Language and one of Biology/Agric. Science/Health Science. At least a pass in Mathematics is required.

    2. In addition, applicants must compulsorily possess two other credits in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics, Food and Nutrition/Home Economics, and Geography.

  1. Leisure and Tourism

    1. Credit passes in four (4) subjects obtained at two (2) sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including English Language and Geography and at least a pass in Mathematics is required.

    2. In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily posses credits in any two (2) of the following: History, Economics, Government, Biology, Food and Nutrition and French.

  1. Pharmaceutical Technology

    1. Credit passes in five (5) subjects obtained at two (2) sittings or four (4) subjects at one (1) sitting in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and a pass in Physics and English Language.

    2. In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily possess one (1) credit from any of Physics, Geography, Economics, Agric. Science and Technical Drawing.

  1. Computer Science




    1. Credit passes in five (5) subjects obtained at two (2) sittings or four credit subjects at one (1) sitting in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics, Physics and at least a pass in English Language.

    2. In addition to this, three (3) or two (2) other credits at two (2) sittings or one (1) sitting respectively from Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Biology/Agric. Science, Food and Nutrition and Further Mathematics are required.

  1. Statistics

    1. Four credits obtained at one (1) or two (2) sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics and at least a pass in English Language.

    2. In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily possess three (3) credits from any of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Government, Principles of Account, and Commerce.

SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

1. Quantity Surveying

  1. Credits in four (4) subjects obtained at two (2) sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics and Physics/ Chemistry with at least a pass in English Language

  2. In addition to this, three (3) or two (2) credits at two (2) sittings or one (1) sitting respectively from Fine Art, Technical Drawing or Engineering Drawing, Geography, Economics, Biology, Further Mathematics, (Chemistry or Physics depending on which is picked in (a) above) and Agric. Science are required.

2. Surveying and

Geo Informatics

a) Credits in four (4) subjects obtained at two (2) sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics and Physics with at least a pass in English Language.

b) In addition to this, three (3) or two (2) other credits at two (2) or one (1) sitting(s) respectively from Fine Art, Technical Drawing/Engineering Drawing, Geography, Economics, Biology, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Agric. Science are required.


3. Building

Technology

  1. Credit passes in four (4) subjects obtained at two (2) sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics and one of Physics or Chemistry with a minimum of pass in English Language.

  2. In addition to this, three (3) or two (2) other credits at two or one sitting(s) respectively from Fine Art, Metal Works, Wood work, Technical Drawing, Auto Mechanics, Further Mathematics, Basic Electricity/Electronics, Concreting, Joinery, Carpentry, Bricklaying and Geography are required.

4. Architecture

a) Credit passes in five (5) subjects obtained at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including English Language, Mathematics and Physics

b) In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily posses two (2) credit from any of Fine Art, Technical Drawing, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Biology/Agric. Science, Religious Knowledge (CRK/IRK), Statistics, Further Mathematics, Bricklaying, Woodwork, Concreting, Joinery and Carpentry.

5. Urban and Regional

Planning

  1. Credit passes in four (4) subjects at two (2) sittings or four (4) credits at one (1) sitting obtained in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including English Language and Mathematics.

  2. In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily posses credit in at least one of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science.

  3. Two (2) or one (1) other credit at two (2) or one (1) sitting(s) respectively from Economics, Geography, Government, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, and Statistics.

6. Estate Management

a) Credit passes in five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including English Language, Mathematics and Economics.

b) In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily possess one (1) credit from Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agric Science.

c) One (1) other credit from Geography, Government, Commerce, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Statistics, Literature-in-English Basic Surveying, Principles of Account, Food and Nutrition Religious Knowledge (CRK/IRK), Language (Yoruba/Hausa/ Igbo/French), Food and Nutrition is required.

SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

1. Civil Engineering

  1. Credit passes Five (5) at not more than two sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics Physics, Chemistry and at least pass in English Language.

  2. In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily possess two (2) credit subjects from the following: Fine Art, Metal Work, Wood Work, Technical Drawing, Auto Mechanics, Further Mathematics, Basic Electricity/Electronics, Biology, Joinery, Carpentry, Bricklaying, or Concreting, Geography and Economics.

2. Computer

Engineering

  1. Credit passes in five (5) subjects obtained at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and at least a pass in English Language.

  2. In addition this, applicants must compulsorily possess two (2) credits from the following: Fine Art, Metal Work, Wood Work, Technical Drawing, Auto Mechanics, Further Mathematics, Statistics, Basic Electricity/Electronics, Geography, Economics and Biology.

4. Mechanical

a) Credit passes in five (5) subjects obtained at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, NECO, WASC, GCE “O” Level and NABTEB including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and at least pass in English Language

b) In addition to this, applicants must compulsorily possess two (2) credits from the following: Biology/Agric. Science, Statistics, Fine Art, Metal Work, Wood Work, Technical Drawing, Auto Mechanics, Further Mathematics, Basic Electricity/Electronics Geography and Economics.


3. ADMISSION TO ONE YEAR PART-TIME POLYTECHNIC DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES


AVAILABE PROGRAMMES

  1. Diploma in Public Relation: Four (4) Semester Part-Time

This programme is designed for Practicing Public Relations Officers. University or HND graduates or their equivalent are acceptable. All candidates must possess credits in at least four (4) subjects including English Language in NECO/SSCE/WASC/GCE ‘O’ Levels or equivalent at not more than two sittings.

  1. Diploma in Computer Studies: Two (2) Semester

Credit passes in four (4) subjects including Mathematics and a pass in English Language at NECO/SSCE/WASC/GCE ‘O’ Level obtained at not more than two sittings are required. Teachers Grade II or C & G is also acceptable. University or Polytechnic graduates or their equivalents with bias in logical reasoning are also acceptable.

  1. Diploma Programme in Public Administration: (DPA Three (3) Semesters)

Admission into the Diploma in Public Administration is open to candidates who possess (a) Bachelors Degree, HND and other acceptable professional qualifications (b) ND, NCE with minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience(s), Mature candidates: in administration/Managerial/Secretarial positions not below Higher Executive Officer (HEO) in public or private organizations with at least five (5) years relevant experience and who possesses credit in at least four (4) subjects including English Language in NECO/SSCE/ WASC/GCE ‘O’ Levels or equivalents. Evidence of official position is required, from the place of work.

  1. Diploma in Logistics and Transport: Four (4) Semesters

    1. Candidates must possess four (4) credits at not more than two sittings in WASC, SSCE, GCE ‘O’ Levels, NECO and NABTEB in the following subjects: Statistics, Geography, Technical Drawing, English Language, Mathematics, Commerce, Accounts, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Government. However, candidates must have a minimum of a pass in English Language and Mathematics.

    2. Certificate course from recognized Bodies in Transport.

    3. Matured candidates not below age of 25 years with proven experience may be considered.
