Facilities for Staff
Up till 1986, the Polytechnic provided partly furnished quarters to staff. That year, the facility was phased out following economic recession. In lieu of this, however, rent subsidies are paid to staff. Furniture, car refurbishing and land loans are also granted to members of staff. Staff development in recent years has witnessed a tremendous boost. More staff are being sponsored to seminars and workshops within and outside the state. The Polytechnic has a Senior Staff Club which provides recreational facilities for staff. On transportation facilities, the institution provides official cars for its top officers and directors. The amount of money given to staff as loans have been upwardly reviews to meet the dictates of the markets. With the construction of more lecture halls, dearth of office accommodation has been a thing of the past. Facilities for Students
MAPOLY is an off-Campus system. However, the institution provides some cafeteria services (run by independent Caterers) to take care of students catering services. The institution also has a well-equipped Health Centre that has become a model for similar institutions in Nigeria to take care of the medical needs of students, staff as well as their families. The institution’s facilities in the programmes accredited remain comparable to those in other Polytechnics nationwide. Similarly, it boasts of ultra-modern Library that meet’s the reading and research needs of the students and staff. There is also the provision of Students Buses to convey students to and fro the Polytechnic Campus from a designated point in Abeokuta on a daily basis. The bus services are complemented by commercial taxi cabs which ply the route. This has regularly received the support from the government. Recently the Otunba Gbenga Daniel allocated 4 buses to the institution in October 2004 while two 52-seater buses were also added to alleviate the suffering of the students. |
