Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a Portal?

A portal is a Web Application that enables a focused view of all operations and processes that are specifically pertaining to an individual or organization via the internet. My MAPOLYPortal makes a high degree of personalization possible for the user thereby allowing you to execute all your activities with the school speedily, easily and with high accuracy.

MyMAPOLYPortal affords you the following functions: Admission, Communication, Registration, Payment, Examination, Records, Result Checking, Grading, Alumni Records, E-library, Correspondence, Facility Management, Inventory and Staff Management. The software also takes a step ahead to keep a log of your activities, generate automated mailings and SMS, and keep a sealed barrier to confidential records which may only be accessed through secured passwords.



2. How can I use the Portal Effectively?

You must get acquainted with these guidelines:

STUDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Student Management System is a set of complete data processing modules. It is designed to capture the needs of all categories of students- applicants, fresh students and returning students.    

LOGGING IN/REGISTRATION
MyMAPOLYPortall is your portal. That is why it is called MyMAPOLYPortal. This allows you to have access to your personalized pages from which you will be able to carry out personal tasks.

To enter as a Fresh Student:
Click on Admission Acceptance. You will first be required to pay an Acceptance Fee. Fill in your names, department and program for which you have just been admitted including a valid email address to complete the Statement of Acceptance. When done, click on I Accept.
The next page gives you a summary of your statement. If correct, click Confirm Submission. You are then given a page that informs you of the amount to pay. Click on Proceed to Pay. On the next page, read the payment details and click on Pay Now. An Interswitch page appears with your name and payment details. Supply your card number, expiry date and the PIN. Click on PAY.

You will receive a Payment Receipt that contains your new username and password. You will be able to now log on as a user. Print a copy of this to give you handy access to your username and password which you will be using at many other times. You will at this point be redirected to MyMAPOLYPortal to add your Profile.

To enter as a Returning Student:
Click on Login. Supply username and password. [Because you have not registered once there is a request to register. You will be required to produce a valid email address (Note: ensure that this email address is active because your password will be sent to it)]. Click on Register.

A notification informing you that your registration was successful and your password sent to your email box will be displayed.  You will be able to proceed to MyMAPOLYPortal to enter your profile.

ADDING YOUR PROFILE
Log in according to your status. A window welcomes you. Click on the Add Profile link to begin adding your profiles. You must have your picture inserted. So scan it and size it appropriately to 120 x 120 pixels (weight must not exceed 100kilobytes and in jpeg format), click on browse, navigate to its location and click on Insert. [Note: Be extremely careful when entering your data; the entries are not editable once they have been submitted. In the rare priviledge of a possible correction, such must be carried out by the Head of Department (HOD)]

USING PERSONALISED TOOLS
Your personalised page in MyMAPOLYPortal allows you to view your profiles, make  payments, register courses, check results, and payment history, use MAPOLY eLibrary and access your online contact/address book.

To begin:
Log in as a Fresh or Returning Student by supplying your username (email address) and password. Click on Log in. Your page will appear showing your name, department and course.



3. How do I make Payments? 
You must pay your fees before you will be allowed to register and all fees must be paid at once.
   
To start Payment:
Click on Make Payment. You will be asked to choose the session to pay for, choose the appropriate session and click on Continue. A window appears itemizing the categories of fees your department must pay including the transaction cost.  A total of the fees is written at the bottom. Click Confirm Order to continue.
An order confirmation containing the payment details and your email address is opened. Your payment receipt will be forwarded to this email address. Click on Pay Now.
You are directed to an INTERSWITCH PAYMENT Gateway which already contains your name and the amount you are paying. You are requested to enter your CARD NUMBER, EXPIRY DATE, and PIN NUMBER (You should have obtained either an Interswitch ATM Card or a Cash Card from a Bank and must have confirmed you have not less than the amount you are paying loaded on the account.) Pay and print this page and present it at the Bursary as a proof for payment.

VIEWING YOUR PROFILE
Click on My Profile. A window containing your profile is opened. This is the display of the details you supplied at registration.



4. What Cards can I use? 
Payment on this Portal is possible through the use of two (2) types of Interswitch Electronic Cards.

a. Cash Cards (Automated Teller Machine Cards).
They can be obtained in banks almost immediately. They do not carry personal names but have been pre-credited with certain amounts as needed by the holder. They do not carry the holder’s names but can be used on ATMs, POS and Online.  You don’t need to have an account with the bank to have this type of card. When you approach a bank and request these cards, your money will be collected from you and loaded on the card. You can do this as often as you need it for all your payments (tuition, acceptance and admission. Any cash card from Interswitch will work on the Portal.

b. Debit Cards (Automated Teller Machine Cards)
These are giving to bank customers who must have an account with the bank. They carry the holder’s names and can be used on ATMs, POS and Online. You need to have deposited money in your account to be able to make payments on the Portal with this card.

Note: Ensure your card is activated and working perfectly before using it on the Portal. You can confirm this by first checking your balance on an ATM. If this does not work, contact you bank for necessary action.
You can also check your balance on your card @
www.interswitchng.com website.



5. How do I Register Courses? 

Registration is to be done by every student in each semester. Remember that registration can only be done after payment has been made.

To register courses:
Click on Course Registration. Choose the semester and session being applied for and select your class level. Click on Continue. (If you have duly paid all your school bills, a table will appear listing all the recommended courses for your department at all levels. If you have not made all your payments however, the link will not proceed.) You are to tick the courses you are required to register (including those of lower levels in the case of a carry over course). When you are done ticking all the courses, click on Continue.
A page appears listing all the courses you have selected. If you make any errors, click on Cancel and select again. If your selections are correct,  confirm and finalize your registration by clicking Register these Fresh Courses Now. Upon acceptance, a success page is generated with the message Courses Added Successfully followed by a list of the courses.



6. How do I check my Results?

Starting from the first semester of 2006/2007 session, all students results will be available for viewing on the MyMAPOLYPortal.

To view your results from the Portal:
Click on My Result. You are directed to a window with a list of your results arranged by semester and session.Select the desired semester. Your results page appears which captures your courses, grades, GPA and CGPA. Your passport photograph is also displayed on the left hand side of the result. The originality of  this result is enabled by the MAPOLY logo watermark in the background of the report.

You can print this result for keeps.



7. How do I see my Payment Records?
 
MyMAPOLY Portal affords you the opportunity to have a record of your payments. It automatically creates a report of your payment details.

To see your payment details:
Click on Payment History. A report opens displaying all payment stating the Transaction ID, the date and time of payment and the amount paid. You can print this as a hard copy for your records.



8. What is it about MAPOLY eLibrary? 

MyMAPOLY Portal has an electronic Library that is equipped with books and other education materials. It  also has several tools that facilitate easy access to learning. The library is opened only to MAPOLY students.

To go to the library:
Click on E Library. You are directed to the electronic library homepage. While here, you could browse books and other materials by author name, book title, keyword or relevant subject heading. In the event that you do not have any of these, you could use the search link to look for your desired materials. All materials are arranged in alphabetical order according to the first letter of their name. Click on any alphabet to view  the listing under it.



9. What is it about Personal Contact Manager?
 
MyMAPOLYPortal comes first with an essential tool for you to manage and organize your contacts. You can use this tool to store all your addresses, telephone numbers, emails and other details on your personalised page and recall them when you need to use them or send those mails.

To access this tool:
Click on Contact Manager. A new page appears for you to enter new contacts. Fill in the name, phone numbers, mobile numbers and email address. Click on Add.
To view a particular contact, click on view details, A list of all entered contacts is displayed. Use the links to the left to view the detailed SMS contact, Email Contact, etc.



10. Why should I always log out? 

Do remember always to log out in order for you to prevent access into your personalised area by another person.

To close your personalised area:
Click Log out and close the window.
